This privacy policy tells you which personal data we process when you visit our website and when you send an enquiry. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also applies in an individual case, we comply with it as well.

2. Hosting and log data
Our website is hosted by Vercel Inc., based in the USA. When you visit the website, the server automatically records technically necessary data in log files: IP address, date and time, the page requested and information about your browser and device (user agent). They serve the secure and stable operation of the website. We do not combine them with other data.
The function that receives form data runs in the Frankfurt region (fra1, Germany). Because Vercel is a company based in the USA, data may nevertheless reach the USA or be accessible from there. The transfer relies on the certification of Vercel Inc. under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, including the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, supplemented by standard contractual clauses. Further information: Vercel privacy policy.
3. Contact and quote form
When you write to us through the contact form or the quote request, we process the details you enter: first name, last name, company (optional), email address, phone number, preferred way to contact you (phone call, email, WhatsApp or no preference), for the quote request also the services you want, postcode and town, property, flooring, area, timing and description, for the contact form the subject and your message, and the photos you upload.
Purpose: we use this data to answer your enquiry, prepare a quote and carry out any order. Legal basis: you enter the data voluntarily and consent to the processing by submitting the form and ticking the privacy box. The processing also serves to prepare and perform a contract with you.
Photos: photos are reduced in size in your browser and, where necessary, converted there to JPG (HEIC) before they are sent. The server function handles them only in memory while the request is running and attaches them to the email to us. Neither form data nor photos are stored on the website’s server. Afterwards they remain only in the mailbox.
Email delivery and mailbox: the server function sends the enquiry through the mail server of hosttech GmbH (Switzerland) to our mailbox info@berner-bauservice.ch, which is also hosted by Hosttech. You also receive an automatic confirmation at your email address. It mentions only your first name and some of your selections (for example services, town, timing). The logo in this confirmation is loaded from our website, which may cause your email program to transmit your IP address to the server (Vercel).
Protection against misuse: the form contains a hidden field and measures the time until it is submitted, without any external service. The server function also counts requests per IP address (at most 5 per hour). For this, the IP address is kept only in the function’s memory and is not stored permanently. The entry expires one hour after the last request, at the latest when the function is shut down.
Retention: we delete enquiries that do not lead to an order after 12 months. If an order is placed, we keep the documents in line with the statutory retention obligation of 10 years (Art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations).
4. Contact by phone and WhatsApp
If you choose phone call, WhatsApp or “No preference” as your way of being contacted, we use your phone number to reach you that way. With WhatsApp, the exchange runs through WhatsApp (Meta). Meta receives connection data such as your phone number and the time, while the content of messages is end-to-end encrypted. The terms of WhatsApp and Meta apply, and we have no influence on them. We only message you on WhatsApp if you have chosen that way (or “No preference”). The links to WhatsApp and to our phone number on the website do nothing unless you click them.
5. Google Maps
On the home page you can display a Google Maps map. The map is only loaded when you click “Load map”. Only then is data such as your IP address transmitted to Google (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland, or Google LLC, USA). The link to route planning likewise opens Google Maps only when you click it. Further information: Google privacy policy.
6. Fonts, cookies, tracking and browser storage
The fonts are on our own server and are loaded from there. No data is transmitted to third parties for this.
Our website uses no cookies and no tracking. There are no analytics or advertising services.
If you switch between light and dark mode yourself, your browser remembers this choice in local storage (localStorage). The entry stays in your browser and is not sent to us or to third parties. Without a choice of your own, the appearance follows the time of day.
7. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell personal data. The only recipients are the service providers named above, to the extent they are needed for operation: Vercel (hosting and server function), Hosttech (email), Google (map only, after your click) and WhatsApp/Meta (only if you choose that way of contact).
8. Your rights
You can request information at any time about the personal data we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted or for its processing to be restricted, unless legal obligations stand in the way. You can also ask for your data to be handed over and object to processing. You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time. To do so, write to info@berner-bauservice.ch. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). If the GDPR applies to you, the rights it provides also apply to you, including the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
